Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has struggled to make much of an impact since moving to Old Trafford in 2015 from Torino.
The 28-year-old’s agent Tullio Tinti has admitted he has been in contact with a number of interested clubs from Italy.
When asked if Roma had tabled an offer for the Italy international, he said: “I’ve not received any calls from Roma for the player.
“There is contact with other teams in Serie A, but not with Roma.
Darmian has been used sparingly by Mourinho this term, starting just two Premier League games and spending much of his time out of the matchday squad.
The defender admitted he would be open to a return to Italy if the opportunity arose.
“I don’t always watch Italian football and I don’t know what will happen in future, maybe there will be a chance to come back one day.”
Darmian has made 79 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils in two years and is under contract until June 2019.
